TOL: there’s a mouse in my house + prenatal vitamins

Thinking-Out-Loud

Running is finally getting easier!!! I can bust out 4-5 miles like it’s nothing. I mean it’s something but hey I don’t have to bring my rescue inhaler with me anymore #winning

There’s a mouse in my house.

tumblr_m6fzxqTCkw1rziwwco1_250

I’ve seen it twice – and only screamed like there was a psycho killer in my house the first time. The second time I gave him the head nod and went about my business. Thank god I have cats (is that evil?)

It’s officially leggings as pants season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suck it, haters!

unnamed (3)

I hate that expensive candles are the only ones that really smell. I spent $25 on a candle from Bath and Body works and it makes my whole house smell like a pumpkin patch within minutes. Being the fiscal conservative that I am I did NOT want to fork over that kind of cash again, so I went with a small autumn candle from Kohl’s. Well it’s been lit for five hours now and it’s just now starting to work its magic. I am not pleased. I guess another trip to The Works is in order sooner rather than later.

Chocolate chips have become my new go-to dessert. They’re cheap, easy, and delicious, just how I like my men.

giphy

Hopefully that GIF didn’t give you epilepsy. If so don’t bother suing I have no money. But I can ship you some chocolate chips overnight?

There are some serious words of wisdom floating around the internet this week. I’m feeling so inspired.

unnamed (5)unnamed (9)What I take out of these:

  • Life is all about perspective – change your perspective, change your world.
  • Be present – wherever you are, be all there. It doesn’t matter if you’re watching TV on a Wednesday night with your friends or at a dinner party – just BE there.
  • Take things at your own pace – there’s no rule book for anything. Quit trying to figure out what you “should” do.
  • Eat breakfast. Because there’s literally nothing better than breakfast.

unnamed (10)

I have the best banana bread recipe that I would love to share with you but seriously how many more “amazing” banana bread recipes do we HLBs need? (but for real my recipe has millet and slivered almonds in it so that makes it different and unique and special right right right?!)

Reading all of your marathon recaps from this past weekend finally convinced me to take the plunge and train for Chicago next year! I loved reading all about the emotional rollercoaster that is marathon training and, call me crazy, but I want all of it. All the ice baths, all the post-run stretching, all the carb-loading and the early Friday nights. It’s gonna be a parrrrrrty!

ready-to-party

And last but not least, prenatal vitamins.

Have any of you taken these when you’re not pregnant? Yay or nay? Some women at work have touted it as a good supplement for my hair loss, brittle nails and general lack of energy lately. But then of course the internet says I’m going to die. So please give me your two cents.

vitaminsQuestions:

  • What’s your favorite dessert lately?
  • Ever heard of women taking prenatal vitamins without being pregnant?
  • Do you really think quality of life is a matter of perspective?

BESIDES health and fitness…

Besides health and fitness, what makes you happy? I feel like I know you all on this surface level of loving to sweat, to eat well and to get our workout on. But what else brings out the best in you?

For me, it’s music! Nothing makes me happier than a midweek concert. Like last night, for example. Post margarita and taco fest, I got to see my girl Betty Who shake it on stage and I loved every single second of it. I didn’t get in a workout yesterday (the nap craving won instead) and I didn’t think much about what I was eating. But you know what, I’m more than a health nut. I’m layered, yo 😀 And I know you all are too. It’s easy to hide behind a label. But I want to get to know you even more.

unnamed (1) unnamed

And yes, High Society will be my wedding song. Future husband, take note.

So tell me, what sparks your passion besides that long run, that spin class, or that new recipe or restaurant? I know there’s more to y’all than that 😉

Is it horseback riding, brewing your own beer, fantasy sports, jousting, watching scary movies, playing hide and go seek with your seven year old neighbor and his friends? What exhilarates you? What gives you that “holy crap I’m alive” feeling?

slurping turtle meets pumpkin patch

I’m beginning to think I have a little bit of an addictive personality.

I’m either waaaaay on “this” end of the spectrum or waaaaay on “that” end.

Case in point, my weekend. Remember two weeks ago when I could barely recollect all the beer I drank? This weekend I spent both Friday and Saturday nights watching reruns of The Big Bang Theory and eating microwave popcorn. Big things happening over here.

I did have two highlights though, which can’t be forgotten amidst the bliss that was my laid back weekend.

One, I tried a new restaurant in Chicago: Slurping Turtle!

IMG_0378

I’ve wanted to try this place for awhile now but to be honest I rarely crave Asian food. If I do it’s usually just a pad thai craving (a very specific pad thai craving which can only be fulfilled by a little hole-in-the-wall place in my hometown. Picky picky). But I was getting dinner with Spencer who is always up for trying new spots so we decided Slurping Turtle would be the perfect meeting spot since it’s one of “those” places you have to try once in the city.

Do you have one of those friends who you know will be in your life forever, even if you only see each other every few months? Spencer is that friend.

IMG_0362

First of all, I love dining with people who a) want to get a drink and b) will split an adventurous appetizer with me. Spencer and I decided to try a light Japanese beer (when in Rome, right?) and split an out-of-this world starter special. I wish I could remember the name of the sauce but basically it was crab legs covered in butter on top of some stir fried bok choy. I could have eaten a mountain of that stuff.

IMG_0364

The star of the show was, of course, the ramen. Sidenote: I’ve never had ramen before. I was determined when I went off to college that I would always be “that person” who never tried ramen. Pretentious much?

Well this wasn’t exactly dorm room fare: We both had the Tan Tan Men Ramen (spicy) — homemade ramen noodles, pork meatball, pork chashu, pork miso, bok choy, and bean sprouts.

IMG_0372

My thoughts ranged from: “Wow this is the spiciest thing I’ve had in my life” to “Thank god this isn’t a first date this is the messiest thing I’ve ever eaten” to “How in god’s name am I supposed to break up this meatball with my chopsticks?” Overall it was freaking delicious. I’m so glad I took the plunge and went pork-crazy (sometimes I can be a little weird about meat) because it was everything I’d heard about and more. The reviews were correct: Slurping Turtle has the best ramen in Chicago.

The other highlight of the weekend was a trip to a pumpkin patch with a few friends on Saturday. I, along with every other human being on the planet, apparently decided that this Saturday was THE day to go to a pumpkin patch so it was crowded (almost as crowded as my Facebook newsfeed with girls in their boots, flannel shirts and apple cider. No judgment. I am one of you).

IMG_0465

The nice thing about this trip was that we went to an actual farm. It was run by a family who converts their home and farm into a fall afternoon getaway for all the other suburbanites to take their kids on an October afternoon. Not only did we see lots of farm animals (including a llama and a miniature horse – Little Sebastian, anyone?) and get our pumpkin fix in, but we enjoyed a hay ride and learned all about different gourds. You learn something new everyday, I tell ya.

IMG_0439 IMG_0449 IMG_0448 IMG_0458 IMG_0444 IMG_0435 IMG_0461

So from Asian delicacy delights to fall-mania, I was perfectly happy to have spent my nights relaxing and catching up on some sleep. Okay that’s not true but I did catch up on some shows (equally important) and I didn’t poison my body with Natty Light.

“Wherever you are, be all there.”

Questions:

  • What cultural cuisine do you crave most often? I always crave Mexican food
  • Favorite Asian cuisine: Chinese, Thai, sushi, Vietnamese….go!
  • Have you been to a pumpkin patch yet this year? Are you planning on it?

Maple Cinnamon Protein Chia Pudding

Ah, protein powder.

I’d LOVE to be that person who whips up protein brownies. I tried once – they tasted like sponges. Literally.

I’d LOVE to serve up a nice plate of protein muffins or protein bread blah blah blah.

It just never works.

But, being the persevering person I am, I was determined to find a way to incorporate protein into my diet. For years and years I used whey protein powder, but always felt sick afterwards. So when I heard about Skoop I was realllllly excited to try it.

unnamed (4)

I tried their B-Strong Vanilla Protein Powder and instantly fell in love. I didn’t have high hopes – after all, most protein powders taste like chalk. And if you’re expecting your protein shake to taste like a vanilla shake from Culver’s, you’ve got another thing coming to you. But as far as protein powders are concerned, Skoop is the best I’ve tried by far. It’s only icing on the cake that B-Strong has a complete profile of amino acids, tons of antioxidants and a full complement of vitamins and minerals. Now that I’m studying to get my personal training certification I know EXACTLY what that means and how awesome it is to find that in a product 🙂

unnamed (3)

B-Strong, is a plant-based protein powder that promotes a three-stage process for manufacturing strong, lean muscles and all-over health. It’s designed to help your body absorb nutrients, build muscle and recover quickly. It’s unique in that it also contains prebiotics that promote a happy belly! It didn’t irritate my stomach at all. It’s gluten, dairy and soy free, and it contains pea and brown rice protein.

The fatty acids aid hormone function, healthy skin and cellular repair, but they also help the gut absorb macro and phytonutrients throughout your day. The BCAAs (branch chain amino acids) keep your muscles strong and happy throughout your daily activity or workout, so that you recover quickly and efficiently.

Now that it’s truly fall, I just can’t bring myself to make any more protein smoothies, even though that’s always been a favorite. So I set out to try something I’ve always heard about but never tried: chia seed pudding!

You all know what chia seeds are so I’ll spare you the same schpeal, but there’s something so magical about chia seed pudding. It tastes like if oatmeal and pudding had a delicious baby.

unnamed (2)

Look how pretty!

Maple Cinnamon Chia Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 3 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 5 drops liquid stevia
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon (I used Korintje cinnamon from Whole Foods because I love how spicy it is!)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 a scoop of Skoop vanilla protein powder

Directions

  • Mix almond milk and chia seeds and place in the fridge overnight. The almond milk will soak up the chia seeds. In the morning, mix the rest of the ingredients into the pudding and serve.

If you’ve ever thought about trying protein powder, head over to the Skoop website and check it out! They have a ton of other awesome products that people with all different dietary restrictions can try (no dairy, soy or gluten). Sadly it isn’t available in grocery stores – but that’s so they can donate 10% of sales to fill school salad bars with local produce. Mission Nutrition’s Buy One Give One means that for every serving you buy, the lovely people at Skoop will put a serving of fresh fruits and veggies on a kid’s plate. Plus you can use the promo code BIGLUNCH to get 10% off your order!

Also feel free to check out their Twitter and Instagram for other ideas for how to incorporate Skoop into your favorite foods.

**Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post, although I did receive multiple Skoop products to try. All opinions are my own! Ain’t nobody got time for fakes!

Questions:

  • Ever tried Skoop?
  • What’s your favorite way to sneak protein powder into your diet?
  • Got any good protein baked goods recipes to share?

What I Ate Week: Dairy-Free Edition

So last week I tried a little experiment: I cut out dairy.

I initially decided to do so for my skin. I’ve heard rumors around the blogosphere that dairy has been linked to things like acne and inflammation. As a secondary reason, I’ve noticed lately that my go-to unhealthy meals (when I’m in a pinch, when I’m emotional, when I’m tired) usually revolve around cheese: pizza, nachos (be still my heart), that sorta stuff. I don’t drink cow’s milk (almond milk FTW!) but I am a cheese freak.

boohoo2

It’s become just a little too much. As we all know, “all things in moderation, including moderation.” But a little half and half here, a sprinkle of cheese there became more than an occasional occurrence: I rarely had a meal that didn’t involve some kind of dairy!

So the experiment began. So for today’s WIAW, let’s take a sneak peek at what a dairy-free week looks like.

Veggie scramble with a side of avocado/sea salt whole wheat toast + black coffee (tough to get used to again, to be honest)

Almonds, raisins and semisweet chocolate chips (yes technically chocolate chips have dairy but I didn't think about it to be honest)

Veggie omelet with potatoes and avocado (sorry for the recycled photo but man it was a great cheese-less omelet)

Veggie omelet with potatoes and avocado (sorry for the recycled photo but man it was a great cheese-less omelet)

PB/chocolate chip toast + chia seeds

PB/chocolate chip toast + chia seeds – again there’s confusion as to whether or not semisweet chocolate chips have dairy in them but Livestrong.com says no.

Results? My skin is the same. Granted, it was only a week. My body, on the other hand, felt great. I felt less bloated overall and started to notice how many calories I was cutting by not adding cheese here and there. I gave myself a lesson in what NEEDS cheese and what can do without it. And now that I’m halfway through a week where I’ve reincorporated it into my life again (hello, beautiful) it’s been nice that I haven’t turned back to adding dairy to everything by default. I’m using coconut milk creamer, for example, and it’s blowing my mind.

Questions:

  • What’s your opinion on dairy?
  • Have you ever gone dairy-free?

overcoming mental hurdles + weekends are for live music and french fries

Whenever I have Mondays off from work I sometimes forget that it’s the beginning of the week for the rest of you. So you’ll have to apologize for my absence yesterday – I slept in until 10:45, laid around all day and watched lots of The Big Bang Theory. No time for witty writing.

I started the weekend Thursday night with a 10pm showing of Gone Girl – GO SEE IT. I almost wish I hadn’t read the book only because I wasn’t blown away by the crazy twists and turns of the storyline but overall it was a really phenomenal film (but, and forgive the snobbiness, the book was better).

Somehow after getting home at 2am I miraculously made it to an 8:30am spin class – Flywheel has a real hold on my heart.

IMG_0320

It was a special booty burn class! Set to all the faves – Sir Mix A Lot and JLo were highlights. So of course we did lots of hills and jumps, plus a quick upper body workout sandwiched in the middle. I love when cardio classes incorporate strength.

The rest of the weekend was spent with friends listening to live music and at breakfast with my family. My godparents were in town so we all met up at Egg Harbor for brunch. I demolished a veggie-filled omelet with avocado on the side and it was brilliant. Fun fact: artichokes are amazing in omelets! Who knew?

IMG_0274 IMG_0278

IMG_0318 IMG_0293Also, if you follow me on Instagram, you know I had an interesting Saturday – it was one of those days when I just wasn’t having it. None of it. I love people a lot, but there’s that one day every once in awhile when I’m in awe of some people’s stupidity/selfishness (and by people I usually mean drivers. Drivers are not people – they are animals). I don’t usually feed an emotion, but after the day I had I KNEW that if I didn’t get some comfort food in my stomach I was going to burst into tears at Union Station so I bee-lined for the closest hot dog stand and ordered some fries. Sometimes you’ve just gotta be bad.

IMG_0268

Finally, it’s marathon week here in Chicago! I had a friend recently ask me why I’ve never trained for a marathon. Good question! I love running so much so in a perfect world I’d absolutely love to train for one. I think the answer is two-fold: on the one hand, I love variety in my fitness routine. I love doing yoga one day, spin the next, running one day and sculpt the next. I just don’t know if I’d ever be able to adhere to the type of schedule that’s necessary to actually get better/faster/stronger at running. On the other hand, I know it’s a mental block. I AM a schedule-lover. So I know deep down part of me wants to dedicate a few months to developing my running game. But I’m worried about getting injured (I read about all of your injuries all the time and it just seems unavoidable!), worried about not sticking with the training and just giving up, and worried that even if I stick with it that I still won’t get better.

tumblr_lsgp7mHMdf1qjoe95o1_1280

Silly mental blocks.

I’m going to do some thinking this winter about serious running goals for 2015. It’s time to get over that hurdle!

Questions:

  • What’s your advice for an aspiring/scared runner? I’m stuck in a habit of 4-5 mile runs and then I stop.
  • Are you guilty of feeding your feelings?
  • What’s one of YOUR mental blocks?

What makes you strong?

After an insanely tough sculpt class tonight at Corepower Yoga, I got to thinking about strength.

I think we’ve all gone through that phase where we just want to be cardio bunnies. It seems to make sense – if I run, all the fat will just fall off my body and I’ll leave it in the dust, right? Most people now know (hopefully) that that’s just not true. Cardio is an amazing component to a healthy lifestyle, but it just won’t cut it if that’s all you’re doing. The truth is, once you’ve gotten a taste of what it feels like to be strong, you’ll never go back.

unnamed

So what is it that makes YOU strong?

What workout do you do that makes you feel invincible, like you could conquer the impossible?

What’s your strength routine (or, are you a cardio addict?)

Non-fitness related, what is it in life that makes you feel strong? What gives you strength?

For me, it’s yoga sculpt once or twice a week, EGGS on EGGS on EGGS, wine nights and deep conversations with my friends, and when I’m out at a bar and “Teenage Dream” comes on. Then, I am a superhero. So, what makes you strong?

thinking out loud – why is my hair falling out, who do I tip, and what do women want?

Happy #thinkingoutloud thursday!

Thinking-Out-Loud

It’s haaaaappennnning!

IMG_0210 IMG_0202

I usually hate stopping while I run (it makes my legs automatically feel like tree trunks the minute I start to run again) but I just couldn’t miss capturing the beautiful scenery during my five miles yesterday. There’s nothing better than a pullover sweatshirt, laced-up sneakers, music and that crisp autumn air.

I followed this lady’s recipe a few days ago and ended up with the world’s most perfect muffins (minus the craisins, plus millet = perfection). Never used millet before? Try it. It makes everything perfectly crunchy, exactly what fluffy baked goods need 🙂

unnamed (2)

I’m pretty sure my hair is falling out. I know that most women think that’s true, but I’m starting to worry, as I think I pull out a good clump or two of hair every time I blow dry it. What’s happening?! Is there a food I can eat or vitamin I can take to fix this? I also have very brittle nails…are these two things connected? I know I could easily Google it but every time I Google health symptoms it’s usually followed with a hysterical email to my doctor paranoid that I’m dying of some kind of incurable disease. Halp!

Help

I am unprepared to be an adult. There are so many unanswered questions. For instance, what does “writing something off” on your tax form mean? I understand the words, I understand the idea, I just really DON’T UNDERSTAND IT. If you hire men to deliver a couch from Crate and Barrel and pay a $50 shipping fee, do you still have to throw the guys a $20 or something when they deliver it? What’s kosher? If you get your hair cut and styled do you have to tip the person who shampoos you and then tip your stylist too? Who gets what, and how much?! Do I ever REALLY need a credit card?  It’s so stressful. Not a fan of these questions. I’m going to stay 23 forever, okay?

Did you hear about the latest “WTF were you thinking” story? It has to do with everyone’s favorite show (okay, everyone’s “I’m sick on the couch and there’s nothing on at 3pm in the afternoon, favorite) Jeopardy!

mld739mko3ulrdcyamyh

Right away you know it’s going to be bad when this is the category title. Well, that, and the average viewer’s age is 65. Here are some of the answers:

xxfciaryzcgn3kjzk1ig…..What is, a crossword puzzle.

wgkxrnrox5kjjxkegssh

…..what is, a vacuum.

For the love of almighty god.

What Women Want: not equal pay, not power over my own body, not equal access to education, not freedom to walk down the street in whatever I want to wear without fear, not an engineering degree OR a spot on the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad (because it’s my choice).

Nope. Women want a few moments of peace and quiet (from, I’m assuming, our bumbling, overweight and unappreciative husband and two kids) for a crossword puzzle and some help with the freaking vacuum cleaner.

Ok rant over. But seriously – this would’ve turned heads in 1995. It’s 2014. What in the world were those producers thinking? (And if they WERE thinking, touche, PR team, touche. Way to get some free press).

I’m seeing Gone Girl tonight!!! Is anyone else going this weekend? I used Fandango for the first time in my life, out of fear that the Thursday night showings would sell out and I’d be forced to wait until Friday night (unfathomable). I’m going to try my best not to post spoilers but I seriously can’t wait. They rewrote the entire third part of the novel for the film so I have no idea how it’s going to end. Which is crazy considering I spent much of the third part literally yelling at my book, it was that good. So, so good.

GoneGirlFincerSpecialShoot

SPOOKY, right? I can’t wait 🙂

Oh, finally,

There’s a 99% chance I’m going to this lady’s concert by myself in a few weeks.

I bought two tickets at the beginning of summer, back when I thought I knew everything and exactly where I’d be on a Tuesday night in October. Nowadays I’m letting the tides flow where they may, so as of now I’m either putting out an ad on Craigslist or you can prepare yourselves for pics of me riding solo at the House of Blues. But in all seriousness if any local ladies have some Betty Who love hit me up and we can make an evening out of it 😉

What’s on your mind this Thursday? What’s the best workout you’ve had this week? When was the last time you saw a movie in theaters, and what was it? Got any answers for my “losing hair/brittle nails” debacle? What do you think women want?

Vegan Pumpkin Chili

I could further solidify my basic status by making another pumpkin dessert, but instead I decided it was time to highlight all the health benefits of pumpkin (imagine that!)

Did you know…

  • One cup of pure pumpkin has only 49 calories and has three grams of fiber (talk about bang for your buck)
  • A cup of pumpkin has more potassium than a banana (perfect for a post-workout snack!)
  • Pumpkin is full of vitamin C, so it can help ward of that winter cold we all know is coming for us
  • Pumpkins contain the antioxidant beta-carotene, which may play a role in cancer prevention. So, eat up!

I’ve made this chili twice already and I have to say, humbly, of course, that it’s pretty killer.

Not only is it vegan and gluten-free, it’s basically impossible to screw up, pretty darn cheap, and the perfect cozy dish to enjoy during these early days of fall.

IMG_9038

Vegan Pumpkin Chili

Ingredients

  • 28 oz can pumpkin
  • 15 oz can black beans
  • 15 oz can cannelini beans
  • 15 oz can kidney beans
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 28 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 medium white onion, chopped
  • 3/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tblsp cumin

Combine all the ingredients in a slow cooker and leave on High for four hours. Season with salt to taste (important!)

Optional: serve over whole wheat pasta and top with cheddar cheese or Greek yogurt. It’ll win over even the meatiest of eaters in your home (see below for photographic evidence).

unnamed

That’s my dad, born and raised in the UP of Michigan, eating vegan pumpkin chili. Never thought I’d see the day.

Questions:

  • Do you like using pumpkin in savory dishes?
  • Have you had a chance to break out the crockpot yet? If so, what for?

newsflash: I’m not 21 anymore

I haven’t talked to you all since Wednesday and I still feel like I don’t have anything to say. I’m kind of tired of the “sound” of my own voice, if you catch my drift. I do have two recipes to share with you this week so get excited for that!

anigif_original-grid-image-23494-1380234832-3

The past few days can be summed up in one word: beer.

tumblr_mrzxsqMZEG1qcm0m3o1_500

You know what that means. It’s Sunday night and I feel like I’m typing with a preggers belly. All i can say is: thank god for fall layering. Those vests and cardigans really came in handy after day three of being slightly buzzed by Sam Adams Oktoberfest. Woof.

whatever1

It wasn’t my most shining moment as a proponent of health/fitness. And yeah, I had fun, and no, I don’t regret it. But it never fails that after weekends like this I find myself sitting on the couch Sunday night feeling like a lump on a log and wondering why I couldn’t get it together all weekend.

Thursday night I met up with old friends from my favorite PR internship last year for happy hour at Randolph Tavern in the Loop. We’ve only been able to make it happen every few months but every time we remember why we’re still friends – we’re a freakin’ hilarious foursome. We split a bunch of pork nachos and tacos. So maybe it wasn’t just the beer’s fault (whoops). The restaurant was pretty phenomenal considering we picked it at the last minute.

IMG_0114

Friday night was my five-year high school reunion! First of all, is that normal? I showed up to the bar and basically saw the same people I went to high school with except some of the guys actually had facial hair instead of hopeless shadows creeping all over their faces. And even though I will say, without shame, that I was pretty pumped for the reunion, it totally exceeded my expectations. I had a BALL.

IMG_0129 IMG_0131

I’ve also been wearing the crap out of those booties I shared with you a few weeks ago. If you want a pair, head to Nordstrom NOW. Best purchase I’ve made in years. I was comfortable in them for hours and they only slightly made me resemble a WNBA player.

IMG_0126

Saturday was a little rough after reunion night (read: more beer) but I managed to get through work and meet Megan up at a local Oktoberfest celebration. My favorite part was a jousting “arena” that everyone from toddlers to sixty-year-old men was taking part in. I have to say, whenever I go to celebrations like this I kind of wish I had more culture in my life. Minus my quick stint visiting Prague, I haven’t done much to celebratte my Czech roots throughout my life. You Germans and Irish know how to party!

IMG_0156 IMG_0157 IMG_0166 IMG_0162 IMG_0171 IMG_0159

We left Oktoberfest to get some real food at the Mystic Celt and ended up with an incredible view. The only thing better than sitting on a patio in the summer is sitting in the restaurant during Indian Summer when they have the front walls down so you’re basically outside while still sitting indoors. It made for some nice views of the street.

IMG_0175 IMG_0178

So all in all, I ate and drank and didn’t do NEARLY enough activity to balance it all out. But I have a plan for this upcoming week to get more in control of myself when all I want to do is eat drink sleep repeat. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, fitness-loving Lauren wakes up Monday morning wanting to punch herself in the face. And we all know that when you make a plan and have high hopes for yourself, nothing can possibly go wrong or get in your way. Right? ………………….Right?

mrw-i-have-to-delete-my-old-reddit-account-because-of-my-creepy-ex-102427

No, Lauren, it isn’t fair, but you’re also not 21 anymore. Proper nutrition, water and sleep are a wee bit more important than back in your heyday.

So that’s that. How was your weekend?
