why did you start a blog?

Hey guys – I’m slammed at work so you’ll have to forgive me for this short post. But I did have a quick thought cross my mind so this seems like just as good as any time to get to know you all a little better. So on this sunny Tuesday morning I’m curious….

  • Why did you start a blog?
  • What was the first blog you read that got you hooked?
  • Why do you think you continue to blog, even during days/weeks/months when you don’t feel like you have enough to write about?

Talk to me! 🙂

  1. i actually started my first blog in 2008, and it was more of a poetry/creative writing blog, as i was a lit/writing major and do a lot of creative stuff. i kind of fiddled around with it for a while but never committed to it whole-heartedly, and when i moved to NYC, i knew i wanted a fresh start with a more focused blog that encompassed my passions for running, a healthy lifestyle, and exploring this city! the first blog i read consistently…hmmm. i think it must have been Kem Meyer’s blog (a communications/marketing blog). really good stuff.

  2. Hey!! Hope you’re having a great day!!
I started my blog because I wanted to share my passions for life- kindness, working out, etc. I continue to blog because I love writing, I love interacting with all of the bloggers, and I enjoy sharing my point of views and reading the beautiful pieces of art that I read everyday! It’s a fun place!!!

  3. I started blogging about 8 months ago because my one of my best friends is a blogger (www.cavegirlinthecity.com) and after reading hers I wanted to get in on the fun myself! I didn’t really get into posting daily until i became seriously injured this past January and had to work from home for several months. I found so much support in other bloggers and realized what a great community it is! Now that I’m healing I definitely find I get writers block more frequently… like today…

    1. The blogger community IS really supportive it’s unbelievable. Who would’ve thought that people you’ve never met could “get” it when some other people you know in “real life” can’t.

  4. The first blog that got me hooked was carrots n’ cake with Tina Haupert. She really is my inspiration for all things blogging.

What keeps me going is passion – I love writing and I am always happy to do it. And then you get that one comment, either online or in person from someone about a post you have done where they say ‘you have helped me’ – that makes it worthwhile. 🙂

  5. I honestly can’t remember the first blog I read– or how I even really came across them, but I was obsessed with beauty/makeup blogs and that’s why I first started blogging– then I realized there was a HUGE blogging community. I think the reason I continue to blog is because it’s a great creative outlet and you’re constantly introduced to so many new things, which is pretty cool!

    1. I would love to read more beauty/makeup blogs but it seems like a waste of time for me since I’m SO bad at it haha. And you’re right I constantly learn things from other bloggers it’s a good way to keep learning post-college
