let’s play catch-up

Hello? Is anybody still there?

In case you haven’t noticed I haven’t written anything in a week. No eats, workouts, or philosophical thoughts I just had to share. I wish I could say there was a better reason for it, but I honestly didn’t have time to sit down at a computer and write for fun in the past week.  Between St. Patrick’s Day weekend and the way things have been at work, my focus has been elsewhere.

Let’s do a quick, random catch-up to get us all back to speed.  Let’s be friends again, ok?

I’m not a fan of not having “a path”. I know we’ve talked about this before so I won’t get all into it again, but man does it suck feeling like everyone around or above you has it all together and you’re “gaining experience”. I’ve learned more in the past few months that I have in a long time—almost like I’m in school again. It’s been great! I just hate that things aren’t guaranteed in life, you know? I’m just working my way up the bracket.

Speaking of brackets, is anyone else excited about March Madness?? This is one of my favorite times of the year! First of all it brings back memories of spring break because in the past I’ve usually been traveling during the games (oh Austin how I miss you!) But secondly, who doesn’t love college basketball? It’s so quick and action-packed and filling out a bracket, pretending I have a clue who’s going to come out on top is always so much fun. Last year was too random for my taste (I’m looking at you, Florida Gulf Coast) but this year I can already tell is going to be exciting because there are fewer teams who are shoe-ins.  Gotta fill out my bracket soon! Wouldn’t it be nice to win a billion dollars?

I’ve been trying to shake up my meals lately. Throughout winter I pretty much ate the same thing for breakfast and lunch (thanks to laziness inspired by the polar vortex): bagel egg sandwich and a hummus/cheese/veggie sandwich for lunch.  With spring right around the corner my creative juices are flowing, so here are some ideas I’ve been having lately.

And finally, in other news, I built a dresser! 7 hours later and rug burn all over my legs and here you have it!

With that being said, I can’t wait to catch up on all your blogs! I’ve missed a lot in the past week I’m sure. It feels good to get back to writing – it always does.

Questions:

  • Do you usually stick to the same favorites for meals?
  • Did you have a fun St. Patrick’s Day weekend?
  • Are you filling out a March Madness bracket? Who do you think will win it all?

  1. Hey! Glad you are back to the world of blogging, I kept checking to see if you had posted! 🙂

Totally the right mindset to have – things all happen for a reason and it will work out. As long as you work hard and try your best then you have nothing to worry about!

  2. welcome baaack! you were missed. 🙂 hope things take a turn for the best for you, career-wise, and i know it’s hard to see the step you’re on as just that — a step — but it is, and you will continue to move forward and hopefully find something wonderful for you. in terms of meals — yes, i’m such a creature of (healthy) habit: salads, yogurts, veggies, cottage cheese, bananas — these make the regular menus.

  3. Welcome back. I took a week and a half off from posting too, for the exact same reason. I quit my job and am movin’ on! I know how stressful it can be to be in limbo like that. Everything happens exactly how it’s supposed to. And I promise, no one has it all together all the time. That’s an urban legend 😉 Hang in there!! And email me if you need to vent!

I’m filling out a bracket but I haven’t figured out my game plan yet. Last year I picked the teams with the cuter guys and actually got pretty far. We should def. play for the billion dollars!! It was solve that whole unpaid internship thing for ya.

  4. Yay March Madness! The games are always so intense! I still need to fill out my bracket – it’s tough because who I WANT to win (Syracuse) is not always who I think WILL win (especially this year).

  5. We did a bracket at work last year because we had ONE male intern and we wanted him to feel included in the office culture. Turns out he taught us a lot about basketball and it was so fun! I didn’t win 😦

Girl, I have been SERIOUSLY lacking in coming up with things to post lately, so instead of trying to write about some prescribed thing, I have been branching out. I think as long as I am true to myself, everything else will follow!

The English nerd in me realizes that I didn’t answer the question you asked in your last post – YES the title is correct! Using the word “were” instead of “was” is an appropriate use of the subjunctive! 😉

  6. WHOOO YOU go girl building that dresser!! I was totally in bed early on ST.PTS day…whoops. OH and in regards to the comment you left on my coffee post…Starbucks blonde roast IS garbage..total muck..I HATE IT!
